Neymar has finally put an end to speculation surrounding his future by signing a contract extension at Barcelona that will keep him at the Camp Nou until 2021. And the figures behind the Brazilian forward's new deal are even more impressive than his figures in front of goal.

Neymar's 'initial' release clause has been bumped up to €200 million, with the 'initial' meaning that it will likely increase with every passing year of his contract. The former Santos wonderkid's annual salary has also been dramatically increased, soaring to €15 million per year, making him one of football's highest earners, creeping ever closer to the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Speaking to the press after signing the deal, Neymar said, "I'm really happy to be renewing my contract with the club; I feel really at home here. Before I came to Barcelona I was obviously already well aware that they were a massive club.

"The players here are incredible and, from the outside, that intimidated me a bit before I joined. But as soon as I walked into the dressing room it was clear how down-to-earth they were," he went on. "I was really struck by that, and it helped me to settle in."

In his three seasons with the 'Blaugrana', the former Brazil captain has lifted two La Liga titles, two Copa Del Reys and a Champions League. The Barcelona bosses will be hoping for more of the same over the next five years.
