Everyone's favourite footballer Nicklas Bendtner has himself a new club after leaving Nottingham Forest before the Championship season has even finished.

The Dane signed for Forest in September and made 17 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals.

But the former Arsenal man didn't fancy staying with the struggling side for a full season and has now joined Norwegian side Rosenborg for an undisclosed fee, the club have confirmed.

They posted the following statement on the club website:

"Nottingham Forest can confirm that striker Nicklas Bendtner has left the club to join Norwegian side Rosenborg for an undisclosed fee.

"The 29-year-old joined Forest in September, scoring twice in 17 appearances during his time on Trentside, and leaves to join the Norwegian champions ahead of the start of their season in April.

"Everyone at Nottingham Forest would like to thank Nicklas for his efforts and wish him well for the future."

Bendtner moved to England as a youngster in 2005 when he signed for Arsenal and also played for both Birmingham and Sunderland on loan in his lengthy stint in England.

He spent the 2012/13 on loan at Juventus and was part of the side that won the Serie A title before returning to Arsenal for the 2013/14 campaign.

Bendtner then signed for German side Wolfsburg on a permanent basis and spent two seasons in the Bundesliga before joining Forest.

Rosenborg will be the seventh team Bendtner has played for and they will be hoping that the striker can play a part in the club retaining the Norwegian title which they claimed last season.
