Watford captain Troy Deeney became embroiled in a night club brawl during the early hours of Sunday morning, which ended up with the striker being threatened with pepper spray by Police.

The 28-year-old had been enjoying himself at Levana Bar in Birmingham City Centre when a man who, according to reports, had been pestering Deeney for a photograph, became violent when the Hornets man refused to be snapped with him.

A friend of Deeney's told the man that the Watford skipper wasn't posing for pictures, which then reportedly caused the man and one of his friends to become physical, attacking Deeney, causing the situation to spiral out of control.

Following the violent altercation, Levana's bouncers removed everyone involved from their private booths, with the brawl continuing outside, where the authorities then interjected themselves.

According to reports, Deeney was told to "Get back" by the police officer who held the can of pepper spray to his face in order to diffuse the situation.

An anonymous source told The Sun, "Troy was being pestered for picture all night by this guy but didn't want to pose for it which irritated the guy.

"Troy's mate told him no and then Troy was punched by him and then again by one of the photo bloke's pals. Everyone was then removed from the club.

"One of the bouncers had his arms around his stomach.

"It was almost like he physically picked him up before going through other drinkers and putting him outside away from the premises."

A few hours earlier Deeney had played for Watford at Old Trafford, where the Hornets succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United.

Back in 2013, a night club brawl saw Deeney jailed for 10 months after CCTV footage caught him assaulting a student. Deeney cites the incident as the one which eventually helped him turn his life around.

Watford have so far refused to comment about the brawl at Levana.
