Premier League Flop Linked With €50 Million Chinese Super League Move

Another one...

Every man and his dog has been linked with a move to the Chinese Super League.

Oscar's staggering £52m move to Shanghai SIPG has triggered all sorts of transfer rumours that a host of other high-profile players such as Angel Di Maria and Ricardo Quaresma could be moving to the far East.

The likes of Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi and Alexis Sanchez have also been linked, while Carlos Tevez to China appears to be a done deal.

One lesser known player who could also be China-bound is Fiorentina striker Nikola Kalinic.

The Croatian spent two years at Blackburn Rovers between 2009 and 2011, scoring 13 goals after a £6 million move. Granted he wasn't exactly playing in a great Rovers side but he didn't exactly set the world alight.

Yet he has been in fine form for Fiorentina this term and has scored 12 goals in 26 games in competitions at the time of writing.

And Sky Italia are reporting that Kalinic could be set for a move to the Chinese Super League with Tianjin Quanjian, who are managed by former Ballon d'Or World Cup winner Fabio Cannavaro.

Kalinic has a €50 million release clause, which would normally put off clubs. But as we know, teams in the Chinese Super League love throwing crazy money about on fairly average and so they are not deterred in the slightest; some reports have indicated that Quanjian have already had a €40m bid turned down.

The China thing is already getting ridiculous but if this deal does come off, it would be absolutely mental.
