Atletico Madrid fans are raging with Thibaut Courtois following his transfer to their arch rivals, Real Madrid.

Courtois returns to the Spanish capital but this time with 'Los Blancos'.

He enjoyed a loan spell at Atletico Madrid from Chelsea between 2011-2014, playing over 100 La Liga games winning the league title, Copa del Rey and UEFA Europa League during his successful stint.

Courtois is now back in Spain's top flight after his desired transfer to Real Madrid. He went AWOL at Chelsea in a desperate attempt to secure a move away from London.

His actions, naturally, infuriated Chelsea fans who labelled him a snake.

And he's also very, very unpopular with Atletico Madrid's fanatical lot.

On Saturday night, the Wanda Metropolitano played host to a friendly encounter as Atletico Madrid entertained Inter Milan. The hosts lost 1-0 with Lautaro Martinez bagging the only goal of the game.

However, the main takeaway from the match was scenes before kick-off.

'Atleti' supporters vandalised Courtois' plaque outside their ground, spraying 'rata' across it while others also spit and poured beer.

Security was eventually called.

Courtois continued to anger Chelsea fans with his comments on ex-teammate Eden Hazard, who was subject to intense transfer speculation.

Before talking up a Hazard-Real Madrid switch, the 2018 World Cup Golden Gloves winner thanked Chelsea.

"I want to thank them for the last four years I have been there," he said.

"I had to take the chance (to come back) because my two kids are here. I want to live close to them and see them grow up.

"I know the supporters are maybe not too happy at the moment, but I wish them all the best and I hope they remember me well.

"Eden congratulated me. He knows it is a dream for me to be here. I would like to be always by his side. He is a great player and if he could come here, it would be fantastic," the 26-year-old said about the Chelsea ace.

Meanwhile, the 'Courtois derby' is only a few days away as Real Madrid face Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup final.

Should be tasty.
