Crystal Palace are reported to have agreed to a mega £170,000-per-week contract with Schalke 04 and Germany midfielder Max Meyer, making him their highest paid player.
Spending in the top tier continues to get more and more bonkers every year, with recently promoted teams Wolves, Fulham and Cardiff having spent roughly £130m this summer.

It appears the wage bill is just as ridiculous, with Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho earning £115,000-per-week, and that is for a man who has only netted three times in the Premier League last season.
Meyer's new four-year deal is worth £35m putting him among the top 20 best-paid players in the Premier League, his astonishing pay packet is on a similar wage to Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk who are reported to earn £180,000-per-week.
The German apparently never quite achieved his potential at Die Knappen and is best deployed as a defensive midfielder.

He left Schalke on a sour note as the club suspended him for criticising sporting director Christian Heidel, so his contract was allowed to expire.
The 22-year-old is currently valued at £16m, and Palace would have to pay a compensation fee of £450,000 to acquire the midfielders' services.
Selhurst Parks current top earner is Christian Benteke, who is on £120,000-per-week following his £27m move from Liverpool two years ago.

Fan favourite Wilfried Zaha recently rejected a contract on a similar level to Benteke, he will surely have a few choice words when he finds out how much Meyer is receiving.
Hats off to Meyer's agent, give us your thoughts down below.
