Ed Woodward's face says it all.

Brighton inflicted Manchester United with their first defeat of the 2018/19 Premier League campaign, in just their second league game of the season.

The hosts raced to a two-goal first half lead with Romelu Lukaku pulling one back before the break.

However, Brighton restored their two-goal advantage after Pascal Gross converted a 44th minute penalty. Paul Pogba bagged a late consolation from the spot.

And as United plodded around, the Sky cameras panned to the crowd where Woodward cut a dejected figure.

United's defensive frailties led to fans taking aim at the chief executive for his lack of transfers in the summer window.

United were heavily linked with a host of central defenders during the transfer window but failed to acquire any ahead of the new season.
