From 23 to three! The shortlist has been whittled down to an illustrious trio. The nominees for The Best FIFA Men's Player Award include Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo, Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann and Barcelona's Lionel Messi.

Following the help of captains, national team coaches, members of the press and the fans, these three players are up for the prestigious gong with the winner set to be declared on January 9th in Zurich, Switzerland.

Cristiano Ronaldo is rightfully the favourite after securing not just the Champions League for his club side but captaining Portugal to their maiden international triumph after claiming the European Championships.

Messi produced another scintillating year for both club and country, winning the league and cup double though endured more international misery losing in the Copa America Centenario final to Chile.

Griezmann rose to prominence as well as establishing himself on the world stage after churning out plenty of impressive performances for Atleti while helping France advance to the Euro final.
