Newcastle United goalkeeper Matz Sels probably wasn't expecting to be dropped from the club's starting line-up following his strong start to the season, and he definitely wasn't expecting a card from Toon supporters to help lift his spirits.

But that's exactly what happened when Karl Darlow was picked to start in Tuesday night's 2-0 win over Barnsely, instead of Sels.

As posted on Reddit, a bunch of Newcastle supporters decided that the Belgian stopper had been harshly treated, and sent him over a sort of get well soon card - with messages on behalf of 5,000 supporters:

The Reddit post also revealed that the card had been passed to a Newcastle official, who had agreed to pass it on to the 24-year-old.

In the social media day and age where fans are so quick to give players stick,

it's nice to see Newcastle fans doing something nice for a player going through a hard time, isn't it?
