Earlier this week, an incredibly unlucky punter called Marvin Jorres lost out on €34,200 euros after Sergio Aguero squared the ball across the six yard box for Sane to bundle home.against Monaco.

In one of the craziest bets we've seen in some time, this opportunistic Jorres placed a bet on both of Tuesday night's Champions League ties, correctly predicting a 4-2 victory for Atletico Madrid at Bayer Leverkusen but falling one short with his prediction of a 4-3 home win for Pep Guardiola's men. Devastating.

Shortly after the final whistle, Leroy Sane himself delivered an apology on Twitter.after he came across the betting slip in a newspaper:

Although this punter is probably still crying in a dark corner somewhere, shouting "why me" every 10 minutes, this rather bizarre gift from former Bayern Munich goalkeeper Oliver Kahn may cheer him up a little.

Kahn, who is an ambassador of a company called Tipico, has sent the unlucky guy an all-expenses paid trip to watch Monaco face Man City in the return leg.

The message translated reads:

"Dear Marvin Jörres,

I have heard of your Mega bet at Tipico, which has just burst before the end. £34.200 win with only € 2 bet. Just because of Sane's goal, your win was gone ... that's bitter! But I have something for you! Tipico and I send you and a companion on the 15th of March, For the return to Monaco. Arrival and departure, hotel, VIP tickets - all inclusive.

I hope this is a little comfort for you! And I'm curious what you get up to this time!"

This guy may not have raked in €34,200 on Tuesday evening, but he is going on an all-expenses paid trip to watch Monaco face Man City in the return leg, so at least that's something.

Well played, Marvin.
