On the 28th August 2010, Javier Mascherano agreed terms on a four-year deal contract with FC Barcelona as the 32-year-old prepared to leave the Premier League for La Liga in a deal worth a reported €24 million.
Six years on from arriving at the Catalan club, Mascherano has never looked back and tonight's game against Granada marks a very special moment in the Argentinian's career.
The former Liverpool, West Ham and Corinthians player has become the foreigner with the third-most appearances for Barcelona with 293 appearances.
Advert
Only Lionel Messi, who has been at the club since 2001, and Dani Alves are ahead of Mascherano in the all-time list.
The centre-back has been tied with Barca legend Phillip Cocu at 292 appearances, but the Argentine international has beaten him after appearing against Granada this evening.
Well played, Javier.
