Manchester United left Old Trafford with a crucial 4-1 victory over Fenerbahce in the Europa League last night but stand out performances from Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard will give Jose Mourinho's side a huge boost ahead of their Premier League clash with Chelsea on Sunday.
Pogba, who has struggled to pin down a position since his big money move from Juventus, was given a standing ovation late into the second half after converting twice.
The French midfielder was also praised for his midfield partnership with veteran of the group Michael Carrick. with fans demanding that the pair start against Antonio Conte's Chelsea this weekend.
In one of the more surprising moments of the match, however, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial stepped up to take the spot kicks rather than Wayne Rooney, who has often found himself converting penalties for Manchester United in the not so distant past.

Pogba explained in a post match interview that he shares spot kick duties with Rooney and after simply asking him if he could take the penalty, Rooney agreed:
All we know is, goals from Pogba and Martial will only give Manchester United another huge boost ahead of their upcoming tie against Chelsea but surely two goals from Wayne Rooney would have given the team an even bigger lift.
Rooney has struggled to hit form in the opening games of the Premier League season and two goals against Fenerbahce would have been timely.

Why did Rooney decide not to take a spot-kick? Was it out of pure generosity or did the matter lie deeper than that?
An interesting debate for sure.
