The Hardy Boyz Could Well Be Returning To WWE

Strong rumours!

The Hardy Boyz, one of the most popular tag teams in wrestling history, could well be returning to WWE very soon.

Matt and Jeff were huge hits in the Attitude Era thanks to their high-flying antics and were a third of the teams in the groundbreaking TLC series that changed the game.

They have both been gone from WWE for some time and have been doing all sorts of batshit crazy stuff in TNA for the last few months.

The story goes that Matt turned on Jeff, won the TNA's world title, lost it, was put through a table by his brother in a match and developed a 'Broken' condition which led to him dying part of his hair bleach blonde and looking like something from Sweeney Todd, speaking with the weirdest accent ever and having an obsession with 'deleting' his opponents.

Broken Matt faced Jeff in 'The Final Deletion' - a match that took place all around Matt's compound in Charlotte, North Carolina and after picking up the win in the crazy encounter, 'deleted' his brother and claimed Jeff's name as his intellectual property, therefore meaning he is now referred to as 'Brother Nero' as that is Jeff's real name.

You only have to watch 'The Final Deletion' to think that Matt and Jeff have absolutely lost it:

Anyway, Jeff and Matt have managed to reconcile, added another Tag Team title reign to their collection. and have been doing all sorts of crazy and creative stuff. Matt has assumed total control over his character in TNA, leading to mental ventures such as 'Delete or Decay', 'The Great War' And 'Total Non-Stop Deletion' that have gone down a treat with fans because of its sheer absurdity and the fact Matt is pretty much just doing whatever he wants.

However, there contracts with TNA appear to be coming to an end and there are strong rumours that WWE are about to swoop in.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter posted the following in his latest edition:

"The Hardys are very much up in the air. They are committed to dates through April. They have told indie promoters when it comes to dates starting in May that they can't commit until they figure out their next step. Their contracts either have just expired or will be expiring within the next week. WWE has made it clear they want them while avoiding any direct negotiations with contracted talent."

And there were further updates from Meltzer, one of the top sources for wrestling news and information, on his radio show.

The consensus is that with Jeff Jarrett coming back into the fold at TNA, the Hardy's would not have as big of a say in the work that they do and if the dynamic duo do not show up at the next set of TNA tapings, it's a given that they are WWE-bound.

It's even been mentioned that the seven-time WWE/WCW Tag Team champs make an appearance at this year's Wrestlemania, which would be quite something.

And it's fair to say fans are excited about the possibility of seeing the two fan favourites back in the company that made them famous:

Pure nostalgia if this happens! If it does, I'm finding some tights, cutting them, putting them on my arms like a sleeve and doing a Swanton Bomb off my sofa.
