Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is regularly linked with moves away - the likes of Arsenal, Real Madrid and Manchester City have all been touted as possible destinations in recent times.

News emerged just over a week ago that Dortmund would consider offers in the region of €70 million euros, though it appeared to be tabloid speculation.

However, a follow-up to the story has arrived this week - with Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke talking openly about the possibility of the striker, recently knocked out of the African Cup of Nations on home soil, leaving the club.

As expected, he says that they would much rather keep the man who has scored 20 goals in 22 games in all competitions for the team this term, but did say that if a bid arrived in the region of €80 million euros - equivalent to £68.5m, he would be forced to consult his colleagues Reinhard Rauball and sporting director Michael and speak with Aubameyang.

Speaking to Kicker TV, he said:

"We can never guarantee that a player will stay with Borussia Dortmund forever, but our strength is to always find new solutions."

"With an €80m offer, I would be thinking about Rauball and Zorc. If we had one (an offer), we would have to get together with Pierre-Emerick.

"We always have to differentiate between situations where there is such an offer, but we have no pressure. I would prefer it if no offer came."

Watzke did also say that the striker does have what it takes to play for a bigger club.

He continued:

"He is definitely good enough to go to an even bigger club."

Dortmund have not certainly not been strangers to selling their key players in the past and had they kept hold of some of their top players, they'd have an even more deadly team.
