Football statistics outlet CIES Football Observatory have used data to rank the performances on attacking midfielders in Europe this season.

They have judged players on the amount of goals, assists and overall contributions they have had this term and come up with an overall rating.

All players who have played 900 minutes or more in the top five leagues in Europe this season were in contention - with a list for full internationals and a list for those who are not regulars in their national side.

And there is plenty of presence from Premier League players in the rankings.

Kevin De Bruyne and Philippe Coutinho have both been in fine form this season and both share the top spot, with a score of 89.

West Ham's Dimitri Payet and Arsenal's Mesut Ozil are only one mark behind though, as are Ryad Boudebouz and Emil Forsberg, who has been integral to the success of newly promoted RB Leipzig this season.

The usual suspects such as David Silva, Eden Hazard and Christian Eriksen are all part of the full international list, while West Ham duo Michael Antonio and Manuel Lanzini make the top ten for players uncapped by their country.

While we know stats can often be misleading and don't always tell the story, it certainly makes for interesting reading.
