The King isn't happy

The number of people who believe Arsenal should retain the services of Arsene Wenger as the club's manager seemingly dwindles by the week, with fan protests becoming more regular and vociferous, while pundits and journalists amp up the pressure on the Frenchman with their continuously scathing assessments of each under par performance.

The Gunners have lost six of their last nine games in all competitions, crashing out of the Champions League in humiliating fashion to Bayern Munich 10-2 on aggregate and slumping to sixth place in the Premier League, six points outside the top four.

However, despite the numerous calls for Wenger's head, Thierry Henry believes it's time the players themselves stood up and were counted, rather than hiding behind the criticism their manager is currently facing.

In a recent statement made during the aftermath of Saturday's dismal 3-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion that has started doing the rounds on social media, Henry, Arsenal's all time leading goal scorer said, "Is the shirt too heavy for you? Stop hiding behind Arsene and be more than mediocre.

"He [Wenger] has taken too many bullets. Right now he's suffering. Fight for the club first."

Henry was also heavily critical of Arsenal's shambolic defending against Tony Pulis' side at the Hawthorns during the Saturday lunchtime clash, with two goals being conceded from set pieces, while Hal Robson-Kanu's effort came from similarly poor defending and a goalkeeping error from David Ospina.

Things won't get any easier for Arsenal after the international break, either, with Pep Guardiola's Manchester City visiting the Emirates Stadium in a match that, should it result in another defeat for the Gunners, all but end their Champions League aspirations.

Despite the melancholic mood currently surrounding the club, Arsenal could still lift some silverware this season, with Arsene Wenger's men in the semi-finals of the FA Cup although, again, a semi-final clash with Manchester City and potential final against either Tottenham or Chelsea will be far from easy to navigate.
