Joleon Lescott is set to join AEK Athens just eight days after rejecting a move to Rangers for 'family reasons'.
The Aston Villa appeared set to become a Gers player after the clubs had came to an agreement for him to move north. But the day he was due to undergo a medical, Lescott went back on the move with reports saying he did so for family reasons.
There has been talk of the former England international failing a medical and Aston Villa went public to say he'd failed to agree terms with the Ibrox club. However, Lescott's unwillingness to move his young family far from their current Birmingham base was the most common reason given for the breakdown of the move.
That is until you see Lescott on the verge of a move to Greece with AEK Athens, just eight days after he went back on the Rangers deal.
Advert
According to Greek website Sport24, the Villa defender has agreed a switch to the Greek capital.
That must now leave Rangers fans wondering what the real reason was for Lescott rejecting the chance to join their side in the Scottish Premiership.
He was set to be the final transfer target of Mark Warburton's this summer, but the Rangers manager has now had to move elsewhere, with Philippe Senderos lined up for a two-year deal after spending time at Murray Park on trial.
