After taking a three goal lead in the 50th minute, PSG's feared marksman popped up to net a goal which seemingly dashed their hopes, and according to Marco Verratti, they even felt the tie was finished.

"With Cavani's goal, we gained some peace. I then spoke to the players of the Barca, they told me that it was finished." He said via L'Equipe.

"Take three goals in seven minutes, I cannot find an explanation, it's football. This is a game I will never forget. I hope it will serve as a lesson to everyone."

While praising the opposition for the tactics they employed. "The qualification of Barca is deserved. It was difficult to play, to make passes. They pressed too much in the first period. In the second, we got to play better."

Despite some of the contentious officiating, Verratti has taken full responsibilities for his sides eliminations from this years Champions League.

"Now we're going to have a hard time. There will be others. We must find the strength to raise our heads. You have to be men. We are all sad. We lost 6-1, it's not because of the referee. We are primarily responsible."

Xavi names Verratti as the 'ideal' signing for his former club

The Barca legend has issued a plea to his former side to sign the talented PSG midfielder Verratti. The 24-year-old has been subject to intense transfer speculation following his brilliant performances in France as well as in the Champions League.

Antonio Conte is hellbent on bringing the Italian maestro to Stamford Bridge while Catalans continue to keep tabs on him. But the World Cup winner has given his seal of approval by urging Barca to snap up Verratti, calling him the "ideal signing."

"Verratti would be the ideal signing for Barcelona in my opinion." The Spaniard told Le Parisien.

While drawing similarities with himself as a player who can dictate the play from the middle of the park.

"I think Verratti is a bit like me. He always goes in search of the ball quite deep on the pitch and then takes it forward and dictates play."

"Verratti is small just like me and he never loses the ball. His technique is incredible. He is a player I would love to see at Barcelona."
