Today has been a fairly uneventful day in English football but there was a moment of madness in the game between Aston Villa and Derby.
At one point in the game, when the linesman gave the throw-in in Derby's favour at Villa Park, right-back Leandro Bacuna was incensed and raised his head to the match official and promptly got his marching orders.
Here is the incident in question:
Here is a better angle of the clash:
A moment of madness.
Advert
Admittedly, it wasn't a full-on headbutt that you are accustomed to seeing in your Sunday League game when big Dave and Razor go head-to-head but it was utterly stupid from Bacuna.
Even if he's not properly nutted the linesman, raising his head and getting in the official's face was not a smart decision by any stretch of the imagination.
Bacuna has a bit of a reputation as a loose cannon and today's antics won't do anything to change that.
Despite the dismissal in added time, Villa held on for their first victory in 2017, with James Chester's first-half strike proving to be the only goal of the game.
