Jurgen Klopp said he nearly cried when he saw Mohamed Salah's selfless gesture to teammate Roberto Firmino in the second half of his side's 5-1 thrashing of Arsenal at Anfield.

Salah is chasing a second consecutive Golden Boot but after scoring a penalty to make the score 4-1, he let Firmino take the second spot-kick and seal his hat-trick to make the score 5-1.

Klopp, watching on from the touchline, loved it so much that he nearly came to tears.

Salah had the chance to end 2018 as the league's outright top scorer but fair play to the Egyptian for letting his mate take it.

Firmino finished his hat-trick with a coolly converted penalty but it was all about his second goal.

After Sadio Mane dispossessed Lucas Torreira in the middle of the park, Firmino picked up the ball and promptly danced through the Gunners backline before slamming home past Bernd Leno.

It was poor defending from Arsenal, but also the sauciest of solo goals from the Liverpool No.9. So many ankles broken.

The former Hoffenheim man evidently enjoys playing against Arsenal as he now has eight in the Premier League against the North London club - with only Robbie Fowler managing more strikes against them.
