Zinedine Zidane is wasting no time in his second stint at Real Madrid after reports have emerged that the Frenchman is closing in on his second target.

The 46-year-old manager returned to the club earlier this week, replacing Santiago Solari as Los Blancos boss, and is looking ahead to the future.

In fact, Zizou has already put plans into motion when it comes to revamping his squad, with the Spanish club completing the signing of Éder Militão from Porto on Thursday for £42.7m (€50m).

According to Diario AS (via Football Espana), Madrid have identified Roma's Nicolò Zaniolo as one of their next targets.

The Spanish newspaper reports that the reigning Champions League holders' interest in the 19-year-old midfielder shot up after they scouted Militão.

Roma signed Zaniolo from Inter Milan in the summer of 2018, with the Italy under-21 international penning a five-year deal.

He has made 14 appearances and scored three times for the Serie A side so far.

Madrid tried to make a move for Zaniolo in the January transfer window, but Roma's former director of football, Monchi, blocked the La Liga side from pushing forward with a transfer.

As Football Espana pointed out, Monchi left his position last week and it could explain why Madrid have reignited their interest in the player.

Speaking ahead of Madrid's clash with Celta Vigo on Saturday, Zidane revealed that Marcelo and Isco would have a part to play in the match.

"Isco and Marcelo are both ready to play, they want to play and we will see them play," he said (via Football Espana).

"Marcelo has not played much, that is true, but he is a professional and he has been very good in season.

"We have to respect everything the previous coach did, but Marcelo, in my eyes, is happy and eager to play, so I am happy with this.

"I do not want to discuss the individual season of Gareth Bale, but in these 11 remaining games I will count on him as I do with everyone, and like the others he is ready to play.

"I am now focused on finishing the season well, I am not concerned about which players will continue with us or others who have come in, we need to focus on results.

"We want to think positively and defeat Celta tomorrow, I do not want to think about anything else, but the players are keen to show what they are worth."

Should Zaniolo leave for Madrid in the summer?
