Gary Neville has responded to Jurgen Klopp's criticism of him following Neville's discussion over whether or not the Reds could win the league as the ongoing rivalry between Sky pundit and Premier League manager rages on.

So Gary Neville questioned whether or not Liverpool had enough in their squad to compete for both the Premier League and Champions League, the only reason he thought they might struggle with the former and Jurgen Klopp took umbrage with it.

Neville originally said, "The Champions League - if I was Liverpool, I would kick it into touch

"Why? I think their method is exhausting for the front three. The drop in quality below them, if there are injuries or playing Wednesday, Saturday, I think it will take its toll."

In his pre Spurs match press conference the Reds manager replied, "How should that work? We don't play Champions League, or what?...Sitting in an office talking about football is different to doing the job."

The final bit is the real stinger with of course Neville having enough knowledge to comment but his past with Valencia coming back to bite him via the words of Klopp.

One journalist, you'll have to excuse the irony, though that the German was right but Neville replied to the tweet, and the Red's managers comments, defending what he'd initially said:

It's odd that Neville really does think that Liverpool have a chance of winning the title and really was just giving his opinion on what their downfall might be.

Klopp's side do have a high octane playing style and, even with the summer's reinforcements, don't have as strong a depth as Manchester City so the point does seem pretty valid.

Can Liverpool prove Klopp right by competing for both the Premier League and Champions League?
