Cristiano Ronaldo caught up in brawl as Al Nassr players fight opposition after AFC Champions League defeat

Al Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo was caught in a brawl following his sides Asian Champions League elimination on penalties.

Cristiano Ronaldo was caught up in a brawl between Al Nassr and Al Ain players following their Asian Champions League quarter-final that saw the Portugal captain dumped out of the competition.

Ronaldo's dream of Asian Champions League glory came to an end at the hands of Al Ain, as the UAE side knocked Al Nassr on penalties.

With 22 goals in 21 league games, Ronaldo has been instrumental for Al Nassr this season and has also been crucial in their AFC Champions League campaign, netting six times on their run to the quarter-final.

The 39-year-old was the only one to convert his spot kick in the shootout, with the Saudi Pro League side losing 3-1 after missing three of their four penalties.

Despite doing his job from 12 yards, and also scoring a 118th-minute equaliser Ronaldo might be kicking himself for his role in Al Nassr's defeat.

In the 61st minute of the match, Ronaldo was presented with a golden opportunity as the goalkeeper spilled a long-range effort, presenting the ball on a plate for the forward who sensationally put the ball wide of the gaping goal from three yards out.

With the eight-goal tie consistently swinging back and forth throughout the game it's no surprise tensions were high and after full-time things boiled over between the two sets of players.

Despite not seeming overly involved in the drama, Ronaldo appeared to be right at the heart of the action between the two sets of players and staff.

The clash didn't seem overly violent with no players receiving cautions for their involvement despite a fair bit of pushing and shoving between members of both sides.

After security ran onto the pitch to get involved the incident was soon brought to a state of calm, but I'm sure Ronaldo won't be feeling calm following their defeat.

After elimination, the five-time Ballon d'Or winners attention will turn back to the SPL and his side's upcoming Super Cup semi-final against Al Hilal.
