Some heartbreaking news is surfacing as AS Roma's Alessandro Florenzi is set to face an extended spell on the sidelines as a result of yet ANOTHER anterior cruciate ligament injury, that will rule him out for the rest of the season.

The footballing gods haven't been kind to the 25-year-old who hasn't featured since October after rupturing a cruciate ligament in his left knee during a game against Sassuolo.

He was expected to return to the fold next month but the same ligament has snapped this week during a training session, keeping him out for a further eight months. Brutal.

Needless to say, the right-sided utility player will have to undergo surgery to repair his knee. Devastating news for the budding talent.

(Florenzi soaks in the applauds from the Roma faithfuls.)

Now, without getting all 'Manchester City-Ilkay Gundogan' on you, lets celebrate and recall his incredible effort against Barcelona in the Champions League 2015/16 campaign.

Florenzi was bursting on the right flank as he glanced up a few times to see Marc-André ter Stegen hovering off his goal line, prompting the Italian to unleash an incredible strike from pretty much the half-way line:
