Man Utd could receive £45m transfer windfall amid 'hidden' clause in flop's contract

Man Utd could receive £45m transfer windfall amid 'hidden' clause in flop's contract

Manchester United could receive a huge transfer boost ahead of the summer window.

Manchester United could reportedly receive a £45 million transfer windfall due to a clause in one player’s contract.

The 23/24 season has been one to forget for United and manager Erik ten Hag after they failed to build on last season’s success in the Carabao Cup and securing Champions League qualification.

Currently, United are sitting in seventh place in the Premier League, 13 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.

Looking ahead to the summer transfer window, United could be set for a £45 million transfer windfall thanks to winger Jadon Sancho.

Earlier in the season, the Englishman had a public spat with manager Ten Hag, which led to the 24-year-old being exiled from the first team fold.

During the January transfer window, it was confirmed that Sancho had completed a loan move back to his former club Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the 23/24 campaign.

Since rejoining the German club, Sancho has produced improved performances, scoring twice and assisting twice in 14 matches across all competitions.

Due to his improved form, United are said to be confident that they can offload Sancho on a permanent deal in the summer.

As reported by the Daily Star, via The Express, United are confident that they can boost their summer transfer budget by negotiating a deal with Dortmund to sign Sancho.

Although the initial loan deal does not include a buy option, it is believed that United have internally agreed to give Dortmund first refusal for Sancho’s signature.

The report stated that the Old Trafford club will be looking to bring in a transfer fee in the region of £45 million to part ways with the 24-year-old.

Speaking about Sancho, former United defender Rio Ferdinand recently said on TNT Sports: “We asked for Sancho to put in a performance, a lot to prove and he’s showing it.

“He’s left Manchester United under a cloud, he’s now in a Champions League semi-final against PSG. Who could have written that script? He wouldn’t have seen that coming.”
