Man Utd 'in contact' with striker who has €40m release clause

Manchester United could be in for a busy summer transfer window.

Manchester United are reportedly in contact with a striker who has a release clause of €40 million.

The 23/24 season has been one to forget for United as they failed to build on Erik ten Hag’s decent first campaign in charge at Old Trafford.

After their recent 4-3 defeat by Chelsea, United currently sit 11 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, their Champions League dream turned into a nightmare when they were dumped out at the group stage.

Looking ahead to the summer transfer window, it has been claimed that United have been in contact to sign Brazilian youngster Thalys.

As reported by Trivela and PL Brasil, via Sport Witness, United are advancing with the striker.

Thalys currently plays for Brazilian club Palmeiras and has scored three goals in five matches for their U20 team.

According to journalist Jorge Nicola, who explained that United have carried out a survey and it could take a while for the club to make an offer.

It has also been reported that the 19-year-old has a release clause of €40 million in his contract that runs until 2026.

United are set to welcome fierce rivals Liverpool to Old Trafford for a mouth-watering Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking ahead of the match, Ten Hag said: “For me personally? I have to manage the game and I have to manage the team. You have seen we have qualities. We have some great players. We can be in momentum and we can play at very high standards. We have seen today an example and we have seen against Liverpool. We can compete with the best and we can beat the best teams in the Premier League.

“And when you beat them in the Premier League, you can beat them across Europe. But we need to learn how to win games - how you bring big games over the line and get the three points. Saturday was an example, today was an example. We have to step up and we have to make better decisions individually and as a team.”
