Wilfried Zaha could be set for shock Premier League return with two clubs 'in talks' to sign ex-Man Utd winger

Wilfried Zaha could be set for shock Premier League return with two clubs 'in talks' to sign ex-Man Utd winger

The ex-Crystal Palace winger could be about to head back to English football's top flight.

Wilfried Zaha left English football last summer to head overseas but the Ivory Coast winger could be back in the Premier League sooner than expected as two top-flight clubs are said to be in talks with him.

The 31-year-old left Crystal Palace last summer on a free transfer, ending a long association with the London club.

Zaha came through the youth team ranks with the Eagles and secured a transfer to Manchester United in 2013, becoming Sir Alex Ferguson's final signing at the Old Trafford club.

However, his time at Old Trafford was not a success and Zaha ended up returning to Palace, initially on loan, before a permanent switch back to Selhurst Park in 2015.

Zaha scored 90 goals in 458 appearances in all competitions for Palace before leaving once again last summer.

Zaha - who had two caps for England before switching allegiances to the country of his birth, Ivory Coast - complated a move to Galatasaray in Turkey and came back to haunt United in the Champions League earlier this season.

Zaha penned a three-year deal with the Turkish side and has 10 goals in 39 games across all competitions for the Super Lig outfit.

However, Zaha's time in Turkey might be cut short as he is reportedly attracting the interest of two English sides who have this season been playing in European competitions.

According to Turkish outlet Takvim, both Aston Villa and West Ham United have met with Zaha's agent over a potential move back to the Premier League.

The reason for Zaha's desire to head back to the top flight is due to his struggles to nail down a regular starting place at Galatasaray this campaign.

The winger is said to want to meet with the Turkish side about leaving, when discussions with the Hammers and Villa progress sufficiently.

Zaha would surely be a worthy signing for either club and a move to either could offer him the chance to play European football on a more regular basis for an English side, something he was unable to do at either United or Palace.

Villa are in contention to play Champions League football next season, after recently exiting the Europa League, while West Ham are ninth at present and last month exited the Europa League at the hands of new Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.
