The January transfer window is set to slam shut in a few days with clubs doing their last bits of business ahead of the deadline next Tuesday. While Antonio Conte may not be bringing in new talents, it appears he's set to offload a defender.

Branislav Ivanovic is set to depart Chelsea this weekend as he's in talks to sign with Zenit St-Petersburg according to a report from Russian news outlet Sport Express.

He's allowed to leave on a free with Zenit keen to finalise the deal over the coming days with a reported three-and-a-half-year deal on the table.

Despite interest from within the Premier League including Everton, Leicester City and West Ham, the 32-year-old is set to return to Russia where he enjoyed two seasons with Lokomotiv Moscow before eventually joining Chelsea.

Since joining in 2008, Ivanovic has compiled over 200 appearances winning the lot; from the league title, to the FA Cup not to mention lifting the Champions League on that famous night in Munich.

But after an extensive spell in the side, Conte has now deemed him surplus to requirements while falling down the defensive pecking order.

The Serbian has six-months left to run on his contract but will be allowed to leave the club on a free.
