Everton have been improving under Ronald Koeman this season and Romelu Lukaku's form has been big part of that. However it looks like the Belgian could be leaving in the summer.

The Toffees have had an offer on the table to extend former Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku's deal since part way through the season.

It was initially thought he would sign his new deal before December and then that became January. However it never happened.

Now the news has broken that Lukaku won't be signing the new deal:

And Jamie Carragher was taking all the credit it for the news:

To be honest it didn't look like he would sign the new deal with yesterday's news and now it's been confirmed...

Everton fans were recently put at ease when super agent Mino Raiola revealed that Romelu Lukaku was "99%" sure to extend his current deal at Goodison Park. Over the weekend, however, the Belgian striker contradicted his agent's words, strongly hinting that his future lies away from Merseyside.

Lukaku notched his 19th Premier League goal of the season during the Toffees' 3-0 home win over West Brom on Saturday and afterwards was asked about his contract situation. Lukaku's responses to the reporter's questions weren't exactly the words of a man who is expecting to stick around the club for too much longer.

Lukaku has long been linked with a big money return to Chelsea, who originally sold him to Everton for a club record fee of £28.5m, back in 2014. Including his loan spell at Goodison Park during the 2013/14 season, the 23-year-old has scored 81 times in 156 appearances in an Everton shirt.

With Harry Kane suffering a potentially serious ankle injury yesterday, Lukaku has now become many people's favourite to win this season's Premier League golden boot, tying level with Kane on 19 goals at the top of the goal scorer's chart, following his effort against West Brom, on Saturday.

It is believed a bid of £65m will convince Everton to sell their star man and, with Diego Costa's future at Stamford Bridge still rumoured to be up in the air, Antonio Conte may push Roman Abramovich to pull the trigger on a move for the former Blues striker, this Summer.
