Chelsea Set For £40 Million Double Summer Monaco Swoop

Teams might as well not bother writing up any intricate summer transfer plans as "buy Monaco players" will probably do quite nicely. Obviously it won't be quite that simple to do it but why bother looking elsewhere, Chelsea certainly aren't.

Monaco are pretty much everyone's favourite team now. That's probably unless you're an Arsenal fan still hurt by last year's Champions League exit, a Spurs fan annoyed at this season's group stage loss or a Manchester City fan who saw your side outplayed in the last 16.

Other than that we all like Monaco, presumably that doesn't count for Borussia Dortmund fans who come up against them next in Europe's elite competition or any of the other sides left in it.

But everyone else of course. Well clearly that discounts PSG fans and Nice fans whose clubs are struggling to catch Leonardo Jardim's side at the top of Ligue 1. Other than that though we are all fans of Monaco, or at least their players because realistically we want them at our club!

And according to the Mirror that includes Chelsea. The paper reports that the Blues are lining up a £40 million double swoop for Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva.

That seems like a pretty small price to be paying for two of Europe's most highly fancied players right now but according to the paper Mendy could be available for £12 million whilst Silva would cost £28 million- I've made this comparison a lot but Jordon Ibe cost £15 million for god's sake!

Left back Mendy was very impressive in the two games against Manchester City and it wouldn't be surprising to see both City and their cross town rivals United amongst the clubs who might make a move for him.

Portuguese midfielder Silva is also likely to be highly sought after. The 22 year old former Benfica player is one of the most exciting attacking prospects in Europe and might even be a bit of a bargain at £28 million.

Despite leading the Premier League by 10 points and likely to be Premier League champions Conte is known to want to improve his squad with Champions League football to come next season.

Which Monaco player would you most like your club to sign?
