Pep Guardiola's experiment of turning Aleks Kolarov into a centre-back proved successful, well, for a short while. Of late, the Serbian has stringed together a run of poor performances and he's set to pay the ultimate price.

Kolarov's contract expires at the end of the season and will not be offered a new deal by the Spaniard and is free to leave the club after a seven year stint at the Etihad.

Not long ago, Guardiola was prepared to table a new contract following his outings in the heart of the defence after converting him from a full-back to a centre-half.

But the alarming showings in the league has alerted the City boss, as he appears to have made his mind up with a couple of clubs already monitoring his situation.

Including Turkish pair Besiktas and Galatasaray who have reportedly expressed an interest in snapping up the versatile defender once he becomes a free-agent.

The 31-year-old joined the club back in 2010 following a £15 million switch from Serie A side Lazio, and has since compiled over 200 appearances winning the League title twice, as well as the FA Cup.

It seems City are reluctant to splash out on a full-back having not spent money on one since 2012 when they signed Maicon for £5 million. But with the troubled back-line, you can expect Pep to delve into the market for a specialist full-back.
