League One Side Set To Benefit From West Ham's Striker Search

A great windfall for them.

West Ham United are running out of strikers to bid for. Slaven Bilic is clearly desperate for a front man to score some goals and the team have made a lot of bids but they might be actually about to sign someone and one League One side certainly hope they do.

In the summer the Hammers trawled the earth for a striker to score them the goals to have as good a season as they'd had the season before. Bids for Michy Batshuayi, Carlos Bacca and Alexandre Lacazette, to name just three, fell by the wayside and they ended up with Simeone Zaza.

That loan didn't work out as Zaza scored a grand total of zero. Their top scorer this season is winger Michael Antonio on eight goals and behind him is penalty taker Mark Noble on four. Their top scoring striker is perpetually injured Andy Carroll on two!

So it's no wonder they're after a striker again this month. And League One Rochdale will be hoping they sign Brentford's Scott Hogan. According to ESPN the North West club have a 30% sell on clause so could be in line for around £4 million if he moves to the London Stadium.

Hogan moved from Rochdale to Brentford in 2014 for £750,000 and are to make 30% of any profit made by Brentford for the sale of the striker. The Championship side have so far rejected a bid of £12 million for their front man.

However the Premier League side are undeterred and really want to get the 24 year old. Brentford are holding out for £15 million but club execs at the London Stadium believe they won't have to pay quite that much.

It would be a lot for a Championship striker but considering their desperation for goals and the fact he's bagged 15 times so far this season it might be worth it for them to stump up the cash.

So far this transfer window David Gold and David Sullivan have made some laughable bids for Jermain Defoe and Robert Snodgrass with the pair still costing the club far less than they'd pay for Hogan IF Sunderland and Hull accepted their bids, which they won't.

The money on offer for Rochdale could be huge though. They stand to make £4.2 million out of a £15 million transfer which would be 4x more than they've ever received for a player.

They'll be hoping an offer gets accepted soon!
