Jose Mourinho has picked himself up an early Christmas present. The 'Special One' has treated himself to signing a youngster from Ajax, beating his old time rival Arsene Wenger to the signing of teenager Millen Baars!

It's not quite been the season of good cheer for Mourinho and Manchester United yet, despite progressing to the EFL Cup semifinals this week, and they'll be hoping that the Christmas period actually brings them some more good results.

However ahead of the holidays and the infamous January sales the former Real Madrid manager has managed to get himself a bargain, presumably in the extended Cyber Monday sales, and to make it better for him he's beaten rival Wenger to the punch.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, United have signed Ajax youngster Millen Baars from Netherlands. The 16 year old will be eligible to play for the club's under 18s from January, along with fellow Dutchman Tahith Chong who signed in the summer.

His dad spoke to Dutch newspaper Noordhollands Dagblad saying, "We have had talks with Ajax that were between Millen and the club. But it was certainly nothing shocking, he was even appointed captain this season of the B1.

"Ajax is a great club with a very good youth, but they can unfortunately not cope so very well. You saw in the past with other youth players who now play at other clubs. But Millen was ready for a different challenge.

"He played nine seasons in Amsterdam and he has always had the dream to play football in England."

And on his son's decision to choose Old Trafford as his new home Baars senior added, "There was interest from Italy, Portugal and England, but when he was at Chelsea and United to look, he knew he wanted to play in Manchester. He did not even see Arsenal, his choice was made."
