Pep Guardiola Confirms Interest In Champions League Centre Back

Would this be a good signing?

Pep Guardiola isn't interested in teaching tackles, it's not his job. However if he was to buy himself a defender already capable of doing it then he wouldn't have to worry.

The Manchester City manager isn't the first man in charge of the football club to have a problem with his centre backs. Be it new signings or players who were already at the club.

Manuel Pellegrini signed Nicolas Otamendi, Eliaquim Mangala and Martin Demichelis whilst Guardiola's £50 million on John Stones hasn't worked out just yet.

With Vincent Kompany perpetually out injured and City's defence likely to be the main issue to stop them winning the Premier League this season it makes sense that they'd be looking to strengthen defence.

And Guardiola has admitted that Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber is under consideration:

"We are evaluating if there's a chance to take one (defender). I know Holger, he's a fantastic player, a fantastic guy, but he's a Bayern Munich player, and we should first of all speak with them and with him.

"Now, on the table, there are no names because we had a lot of games. But now we have 10 days until Everton, so we have time to discuss with Txiki, with the club, what is the best for the rest of the season."

The former Bayern manager has worked with the German centre back, who can also play as a full back, at the Allianz Arena but Badstuber has had his injury problems.

After conceding 22 goals in 22 games it's clear that the former Barcelona midfielder has to do something to turn the tide and make a push for the title.

Would Badstuber be the right man?
