Wayne Rooney has pledged his future with Manchester United following the intense speculation linking him with a move to the fledgling Chinese Super League.

Though it could of been very different had Jose Mourinho accepted a bid for his skipper last month during the transfer window.

Everton had a sensational offer to re-sign Rooney rejected, according to several reports.

The 31-year-old swapped Everton for Manchester United in 2004 for £27 million, and they were hoping to land his services until the bid was knocked back.

It's believed the Toffees will renew their interest in the summer in view to a huge summer signing. His former side remains a realistic option as well as the Far East movement.

Meanwhile, Rooney ended speculation yesterday by releasing a statement detailing his plans on staying at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future.

Speaking to the Press Association, he said;

"Despite the interest which has been shown from other clubs, for which I'm grateful, I want to end recent speculation."

I am staying at Manchester United. I hope I'll play a full part in helping the team in its fight for success on four fronts.

"It's an exciting time at the club and I want to remain a part of it."

Earlier this week, The Mirror went with a back page splash titled 'Goodbye Rooney Tuesday' a couple of days back.

The reports stated that a £30 million move was on the cards, and Rooney would become the world's best-paid player, with a weekly salary in the region of £750,000-a-week being thrown around.

The Telegraph reported that Wayne Rooney's record breaking move will depend on whether he plays in the EFL final on Sunday.

Yet, Rooney has ended recent transfer rumours by saying that he will stay at Manchester United.
