Goalkeeper Banned For Two Years For Letting Opponents Score

Goalkeeper Banned For Two Years For Letting Opponents Score

Not a good couple of days for goalkeepers.

We've seen a lot of passionate protests against controversial refereeing decisions in the past but Vietnamese side Long An FC went almost as extreme as any team we've ever seen after conceding a late spot kick to Ho Chi Minh City in a recent cup game.

With the score level at 2-2 approaching the final minutes of the match, the ref awarded a penalty to the visitors, sparking a furious reaction from the home side.

Long An's goalkeeper Nguyen Minh Nhut was ordered by his teammates to turn his back as the penalty was taken, purposefully conceding to allow his team to fall behind.

As if that bizarre protest wasn't enough, Long An followed that up by allowing Ho Chi Minh City to help themselves to another two goals.

It's now emerged that the goalkeeper in question, Nguyen Minh Nhut has been hit with a two-year ban from football.

And it gets worse for Long An, who have also had their manager and club president banned for three years by the Vietnamese FA as a result of their actions.

As luck would have it though, if they are in need of a goalkeeper to deputise for the timebeing - we know just the guy.

After being forced to resign following the whole pie fiasco, Wayne Shaw is without a club and with an FA investigation into his antics going on, he might as well jump at the opportunity to jet off and play in another country.

If Long An do want the 23 stone goalkeeper in between their sticks, they will have to act quickly as supermarket chain Morrisons have already made a move.
