Colin Kaepernick's continued kneeling for the American national anthem before NFL games has brought the San Francisco 49ers quarterback into the spotlight and normally it's because of vile hatred to his reasonable protest. Kaepernick has revealed that he's received death threats.

The whole issue centres on Kaepernick wanting to bring to people's attention the horrendous racial oppression and police brutality that has been put under the microscope under the past few months due to several deaths. The latest such incident came to light this week with 40 year old Terence Crutcher shot dead by a police officer when his hands were in the air.

The 28 year old told journalists, via The Guardian, that he'd received threats on his life but seemed quite relaxed about it all saying that if anyone acted on them they'd be proving his point:

"To me, if something like that were going to happen, you've proved my point. It would be loud and clear for everyone why it happened. That would move this movement forward at a greater speed than what it is even now. Granted, I don't want that to happen. But that's the realization of what could happen."

Kaepernick has been getting a lot of abuse for sitting during the anthem with people accusing him of disrespecting armed forces who fight for the freedom of the country but the quarterback once again reiterated that his point was to do with inequality using the latest case as another example:

"There's a lot of racism in this country disguised as patriotism and people want to take everything back to the flag but that's not what we're talking about. We're talking about racial discrimination, inequalities and injustices that happen across the nation.

"His car was broken down, he was looking for help and he got murdered, That's a perfect example of what this is about. I think it will be very telling what happens with the officers that killed him because everybody's eyes will be on this."
