Conor McGregor will finally get the chance to become the first ever simultaneous two weight world champion in UFC. The Irishman will take on Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 in Madison Square Garden!

The Notorious, Conor McGregor, will return to the octagon in November to fight Eddie Alvarez for the 155lbs title. That will give McGregor the chance to hold titles at two weights at the same time and would be the first man in UFC to achieve the feat.

The featherweight champion was originally supposed to fight Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight title in March but the Brazilian pulled out of the fight with an injury which led to the Irishman's two fights against Nate Diaz.

Now McGregor and Alvarez will headline the promotion's return to New York in December as the main event.

In the statement to announce the fight UFC confirmed that McGregor will keep hold of his featherweight title that he won last December but will have gone undefended for over a year by the time he puts it on the line.

His old foe Jose Aldo currently holds the interim title having beaten Frankie Edgar at UFC 200.

Alvarez is undefeated in his last three fights and is putting his title on the line for the first time since winning it against Dos Anjos in July. UFC 205 is set to be a very exciting night.
