Basketball player Akil Mitchell suffered a horrendous injury in a NBL game on Thursday, with the forward's eye coming out of his socket in the game against Cairns Taipans.
Mitchell, who was part of the NBA Summer League on three occasions, went down immediately after being caught in the face by opposition player Nnanna Egwu when challenging for a rebound.
And as the camera pans to Mitchell, his eye comes out of his socket in what is graphic content and won't be enjoyable viewing for many.

Understandably, Mitchell's teammates were devastated when they saw him grimacing in pain.
But fortunately, the former University of Virginia player's vision is not impaired in what is very encouraging news.
With his emoji game on point, he tweeted the following:
Let's hope for a speedy recovery for Akil after that horrid injury.
