Gary Anderson Calls Joe Cullen A 'Cheat' After Bizarre Incident During Premier League Match

"I’ve got a lot of respect for Gary, he’s a great ambassador for the sport but I think he let himself down a bit tonight.”

Tempers boiled over during Thursday night's Premier League clash between Gary Anderson and Joe Cullen in Rotterdam, with both men exchanging some heated words after the match was over.

Cullen came from 5-3 down to beat Anderson, who had the opportunity to pick up the victory at 5-5 but missed three match darts.

And his first chance to secure victory is when the unusual incident occurred. As the two-time PDC world champion was setting up for the win, Anderson looked back at his opponent - perhaps suggesting that Cullen was encroaching.

As you can see in the footage above, Anderson was far from happy with the situation. He nodded his head, composed himself and went on to miss a crucial double 20.

Cullen eventually pounced on Anderson's slack darts and picked up the victory. But moments later, things escalated when the pair got into a heated argument.

You can see that footage below.

In his post-match press conference, Cullen said Anderson "let himself down" on Thursday night.

"For want of a better expression, he called me a cheat," Cullen told DAZN. "Gary was saying I know what I did, I said: 'I don't know what I did.'

"I did absolutely nothing wrong. Never had an issue with Gary in the past. I've done absolutely nothing wrong, my conscience is clear. I don't know what it was.

"I said: 'Watch every camera back you've got.' I don't know whether it was the heat of the moment. We all do stupid things in the heat of the moment. I'm a lot of things but I'm not a cheat.

"I've got a lot of respect for Gary, he's a great ambassador for the sport but I think he let himself down a bit tonight."
