Shawn Michaels Names The Wrestler He Would Come Out Of Retirement To Face

HBK hasn't been in action since retiring in 2010 and though unlikely, he picked who he would want to face if he did.

WWE Hall Of Famer Shawn Michaels has been one of the few wrestlers who did actually hang up their wrestling boots after announcing their retirement.

So many superstars either staged a "fake retirement" that was part of a storyline where there are a number of instances where wrestlers did get back in the ring after calling it a day.

But Michaels, despite making a number of appearances and fulfilling different roles, he has been true to his word and has not had a match since his show-stealing bout with The Undertaker at Wrestlemania XXVI - although it was something special seeing him in full attire, twerking with The New Day at Wrestlemania 32.

Now a coach at the WWE Performance Centre, HBK said he has never been approached to return to WWE but did name the opponent he would be interested in mixing it up with if an opportunity did arise and he decided to take it.

The Showstopper didn't opt for any of his former foes and instead went for two-time NXT Champion Samoa Joe, who is widely tipped to make his WWE debut at the Royal Rumble.

Speaking to ESPN, he said:

"I look at Samoa Joe and I've told him a number of times that I see his stuff at NXT and think to myself, 'Man, I could have a great deal of fun with you.' He's a guy I have sort of enjoyed, and one of those sleeper guys that no one talks about.

"We have contrasting styles. I get that everybody wants to see me and AJ or Seth or Dolph [Ziggler]. From my standpoint, I think really telling a great story out there [is most important]. I could do it with a guy like Samoa Joe. His stuff looks really good, and sometimes he just looks like he's beating the tar out of somebody."

He's likely never going to wrestle again but the thought of Michaels vs Joe is quite salivating.
