UFC 209: Khabib Vs. Ferguson & Woodley Vs. Thompson Rematch Set

UFC 209 is going to be sick! Not only are Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson slugging it out again for the welterweight belt but Khabib Nurmagomedov will compete for UFC gold as he takes on Tony Ferguson for the interim-lightweight title.

Sure, we were hoping for Conor McGregor vs. Nurmagomedov, though the UFC lightweight kingpin was never in the running to fight this early following the expectancy of his first child.

Yet 'Nurmy' vs. Ferguson is a damn good fight. The bout will serve as the co-main event as well as for the interim-lightweight title, created in the absence of McGregor. While the validity of the title remains subject to scrutiny it does mean the fans will be treated to a five-round fight.

Topping the stacked UFC 209 card will be a rematch preceding their first fight at the historic UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden. Back in November, Woodley defended his title by drawing with Thompson.

Despite top-contender Demian Maia waiting in the wings, the unsatisfactory result of their first fight prompted the immediate rematch. The pair fought a thrilling first fight including a miraculous guillotine escape from 'Wonderboy' in the championship rounds.

UFC 209 goes down on March 4th - early morning on the 5th for us U.K and Irish folks - from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. WE CAN'T WAIT!
