The death of Kevin Ferguson last year at the tragic age of just 42 sent shock waves through the combat sports community, and in memory of his 43rd birthday yesterday, we pay homage by remembering one of his most defining moments during his distinguished career.
Aka, and more recognised as, Kimbo Slice passed away from a heart failure just four months after his fight with fellow street fighter Dada 5000. The grudge match was ultimately marred with controversy.
Not only was the fight deemed unfit, but Slice also tested positive for nandrolone and elevated levels of testosterone while Dada reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest.
Despite the unsatisfactory fight and unflattering headlines circulating the contest, his impact on the fight game is undeniable. The larger than life figure was universally adored and revered among the fight fraternity from the fans to fighters.
