ODDSbibleRacing's Best Bets From Friday's Action At Dundalk, Lingfield, Musselburgh and Newbury

Dutch delight for Musselburgh glory.

Following another winning NAP yesterday, our 5th in the last 6 days, as Steven Gerrard once famously said: We go again! (Let's hope we don't slip over though).

Racing takes place over the jumps at Musselburgh and Ludlow whilst Lingfield in the afternoon and Newcastle in the evening host All-Weather meetings. Dundalk has an evening All-Weather card in Ireland.

Here are the selections...

Fire to Fight off rivals

7:30: Dundalk - Gordon Lord Byron 4/1.

One of the stars of Ireland's flat racing scene in his stellar career. Now a nine-year-old, the gelding has earned £1 million in his career and a mark of 104 really does not do himself justice. A Group One winner at his peak, he could still just about have enough class for this event over six furlong which should be perfect for him at his age.

8:30: Dundalk - Fire Fighting 6/4 Next Best.

Mark Johnston likes to target these Dundalk races and it is interesting that he sends over course and distance winner Fire Fighting for this extended one mile and two furlong contest. Pat Smullen is a board the six-year-old son of Soldier Of Fortune.

The gelding is having his first run since August but Johnston's horses are always well tuned up for their first start of the year and this lad should take a lot of beating off his current mark of 112. To put that official rating into perspective, the next best horse in this race is rated 10lb lower than Johnston's charge. He looks a good bet.

Dutch delight for Musselburgh glory

2:55: Lingfield - El Principe 2/1.

Ran a cracker when finishing second to the prolific Athassel at Kempton on his first run this year. He will improve for that event despite being raised 3lb and he looks a decent shout for this six furlong event at a track which really should suit his style of running.

3:20: Musselburgh - The Dutchman 5/4 NAP.

Sandy Thomson's seven-year-old son of King's Theatre is evidently a decent sort given his excellent placed form in chases so far this year. Second to the smart Zamdy Man at Newcastle last time, Thomson's charge was going nicely in a Grade Two at Wetherby in February and whilst he hasn't added to his maiden chase success in November, this may be his chance to follow up.

First-time cheekpieces are added today and the gelding also steps back up in distance today which should also be of benefit for the horse. The red-hot Brian Hughes being on board is also a plus and he looks to have a leading claims here.

4:55: Musselburgh - Parc Des Princes 16/1 Each Way.

His form figures leave a lot to be desired but Nicky Richards is a shrewd trainer and this horse should really be taking advantage of this mark. Richards has saddled 4 winners from 14 runners in the last fortnight, a formidable 29% strike-rate.

Only fifth at this track last time, he was held up in that race before making steady progress late on and stepping up to this trip, in which e finished second over course and distance in November 2015 could be the making of him.

4:10: Newbury - I'm A Game Changer 6/4.

Philip Hobbs' charge was an easy winner of a novices' hurdle at Bangor-on-Dee by seven lengths in January, before following up in a handicap hurdle with a facile 11 length success at Ludlow last month in which he beat a couple of useful rivals.

Today's event looks a pretty hot race but this five-year-old son of Arcadio compared to some of his rivals, is in good form and he has a strong chance of completing the hat-trick here.

9/2 Win Double

3:20: Musselburgh - The Dutchman

8:30: Dundalk - Fire Fighting
