Richards to be Best at Bangor-on-Dee.

The NAP was disappointing yesterday but hopefully we can get back on form with a plethora of action on Saturday.

Racing takes place over the jumps at Bangor-on-Dee, Kelso, Newbury and Stratford, whilst Lingfield in the afternoon and Wolverhampton in the evening host All-Weather meetings. Thurles hosts a jumps card in Ireland.

Here are our selections...

Richards to be Best at Bangor-on-Dee

2:15: Bangor-on-Dee - Bestiarius 15/8.

Nicky Richards' horses are in fine fettle and his Bestiarius should go well in a novices' hurdle over an extended two miles and three furlongs. A four-length winner of a bumper at Newcastle in March last year when trained by Keith Reveley, the five-year-old son of Vinnie Roe was a decent three and a quarter-second behind the useful Sam Spinner at Newcastle in November. Given plenty of time off and with better ground potentially being in his favour, he should also benefit from the step up in trip.

2:50: Bangor-on-Dee - Atlantic Storm 6/4.

It looks a tip in itself that Harry Skelton has come here to ride this five-year-old gelding who was a decent eight behind the smart High Bridge in a solid race at Newbury last time. Sent handicapping by Skelton, this looks a canny bit of placing and he should taken plenty of beating.

3:25 Bangor-on-Dee - Conquer Gold 4/1.

Has run with credit in two starts over fences, finishing second both times. This is a competitive race but a mark of 120 looks fair running against her own sex and she could prove to be a little bit better than she has shown already over the larger obstacles this term.

4:00: Bangor-on-Dee - Midnight Jade evens.

A pretty weak race for the grade and whilst John Groucott's mare couldn't complete the hat-trick when only third at Southwell last time, this is a much weaker race than that and her price looks generous.

4:35: Bangor-on-Dee - Boyhood 4/1 Notebook.

I backed this lad when he won at Doncaster in November when scoring a tad cosily under Paddy Brennan by two and three-quarter lengths, going away at the line despite hanging to his right. Connections have probably waited for a bit of decent ground and he should cope with the step up in distance under Slippers Madden. I really fancy him.

Minella should be oh so Suite at Kelso

3:50: Kelso - Minella Suite 11/8.

Rose Dobbin's six-year-old gelding has finished second on her last two starts. Second on his chasing debut at Catterick earlier this month, Brian Hughes is aboard the son of Oscar today and he should make the improvement required to win this event.

3:45: Lingfield - Start Seven 9/4.

Racked up a hat-trick of successes earlier this term before finding a well handicapped rival too good at Southwell last time. He has been raised another 3lb but if he can get an easy lead at the front of the field, Kirby could kick on and win this race.

4:20: Lingfield - Verne Castle NAP 2/1.

Has progressed with every run this year and seems to love it round here, having won twice from four career starts at Lingfield. A facile winner of two Class 4 events in February, the four-year-old son of Sakhee's Secret coped with the step up to Listed company admirably when being narrowly beaten into third place in the Hever Sprint Stakes over course and distance last time. This is a weaker race and he looks very hard to beat here.

5:30: Lingfield - Synodic 9/4.

A cosy winner in his last two starts at the track, he can complete the treble for Seamus Durack over course and distance.

Copper to prove worth at Newbury

2:25: Newbury - O Maonlai 9/1 Each Way.

Was running a huge race when making a really bad mistake down the back straight here last time. That cost him all momentum and Adrian Heskin was wisely not too hard on the gelding after that. He loves it round here and he looks a great bet to be well up there in this event.

3:00: Newbury - Copper Kay 9/1 Each Way.

Has been a frustrating mare this season particularly when getting beat at Warwick in December when well cleat before idling up the run-in. She made amends at odds of 1/10 last time and a step up to a decent Grade Two event could see her running a very big race.

Great to put rest of the Field to the sword.

3:55: Thurles - Great Field Evens Next Best.

Jody McGarvey somehow stayed on board Willie Mullins' charge who made a real hash of the final fence at Leopardstown last time when clambering through the obstacle when well clear, eventually running out an eight-length winner. This six-year-old son of Great Pretender looks to have a massive engine and can win again.

7:15: Wolverhampton - Simply Me 5/2.

Only third at the track last time when attempting to gain her fourth consecutive win. Given a couple of weeks off by Tom Dascombe, this well-bred four-year-old daughter of New Approach can regain the winning thread.

8:15: Wolverhampton - Rosealee 5/1 Each Way.

Jeremy Gask does well with his sprinters and this filly was a neck second at Lingfield earlier this month. The daughter of Zebedee is bred to be a little bit better than this grade and hopefully the drop in trip will see her return to winning ways, particularly as she has won her only start at this track to date.

5/1 Win Double

Verne Castle 2/1 NAP (4:20 Lingfield) and Great Field evens NB (3:55 Thurles)

466/1 Each-Way Lucky 15

Bestiarius 15/8 (2:15 Bangor), O Maonlai 9/1 (2:25 Newbury), Boyhood 4/1 (4:35 Bangor) and Synodic 9/4 (5:30 Lingfield)
