We take a look at the best bets on offer in Tottenham's return to the Champions League

The Champions League is back lads and I for one can't wait for the nights after work in the pub, checking my cash-out and the return of that legendary intro music.

Wednesday sees Tottenham's return to European football's biggest club competition after a five-year absence, where they will now be playing at Wembley Stadium, the new venue for their 2016/17 Champions League home games while they begin building their new stadium.

Spurs' group, on paper at least, shouldn't be too much of a struggle for them to progress from. Bayer Leverkusen, CSKA Moscow and AS Monaco shouldn't cause many problems for Mauricio Pochettino's men, who finished third in the Premier League last season in order to earn their place in this season's competition.

Here are a few of our picks for Wednesday night's clash with Monaco.

Spurs WIN - 4/6

Spurs have no new injury concerns, and are only without Danny Rose who is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury. Mouse Dembele could also return to the team should Pochettino decide to select him.

Monaco are currently top of Ligue 1 with ten points from their first four fixtures, whereas Tottenham are sitting in 4th with eight points from the the same amount of games as Leonardo Jardim's men. Off of the back of an impressive 4-0 win over Stoke City last Saturday, Spurs should quite comfortably pick up the three points here.

Spurs to win and both teams to score - 11/4

Tottenham finished last season with the second best defence win the Premier League last season, but have conceded in half of their league games so far this season.

Monaco have scored seven goals in four games during their Champions League qualifying campaign and as such seem likely to score against a Spurs side with only one clean sheet in their previous six home games (albeit at White Hart Lane, not Wembley). We think this bet could prove to be of good value.

Correct Score, First Half (0-0) - 23/10

Tottenham have only scored one first half goal in their first four games of this season. After playing their last Champions League game in the 2011/12 season, they may be rather tentative to begin with and as such it could be stalemate at the break.

Fingers crossed this game will be an entertaining one, and hopefully this is the year English teams re-establish their form in the Champions League.
