ODDSbibleRacing's Best Bets From Sunday's Action At Huntingdon and Leopardstown

Grand Turina should go well at Huntingdon.

Jump racing rules the day in Britain on Sunday with jump meetings being staged at Sedgefield and Huntingdon. Leopardstown also plays host to an jump card in Ireland.

Here are a couple of selections.

Huntingdon 15:30 - ANTARCTICA DE THAIX 4/1

Paul Nicholls' charge is an enigmatic character but the seven-year-old daughter of Dom Alco finally got head in front over fences at Bangor last time when winning by 49 lengths. She was level with another horse who fell at the last that day but she looked to be getting the better of that battle and looks well placed to go well today.

The favourite Desert Queen should run well and ironically she and Antartica De Thaix ran against each other where they both fell independently of each other in the Mares' Novices' Chase at Wincanton in December. Nicholls' mare doesn't look the easiest ride but the win at Bangor should have boosted her confidence no end and she should run a huge race.

Huntingdon 16:00 - WOOD YER 5/1

Nigel Twiston-Davies believes Wood Yer should have a strong say in this race and there is no reason why he can't. He was a back to form last time out when a close third at Bangor, is on a nice mark and will love the wet ground.

Huntingdon 17:00 - GRAND TURINA 2/1 NAP (NON-RUNNER)

The six-year-old daughter of Kayf Tara has only run five times under rules and unseated her rider at the first hurdle on her debut over the smaller obstacles. However, she was an excellent three and three-quarter third to River Wylde last time who has subsequently gone on to win decisively in Grade Two company at Kempton last time in the Dovecote and is now set for a tilt at the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Grand Turina didn't jump with any real fluency that day but should have learnt a lot from that experience and looks sure to go close in this contest. Reverting to a race against fellow mares, she makes plenty of appeal.

Leopardstown 16:10 - THE GATECHECKER 9/2

Michael Hourigan's gelding justified strong support to win at Naas in January and handled an 8lb rise with credit when finishing second at Gowran Park last time. Raised another 4lb, he looks to be progressing with age and with Mark Walsh in the saddle, he looks decent value.
