The event will be host to plenty of firsts for WWE. It will be the first SmackDown branded PPV in nine years and the first Backlash PPV in seven years.

The event could also mark the beginning of a first WWE championship reign for AJ Styles, but before that, there's the little matter of crowing the inaugural Smackdown Live Tag Team and Women's champions.

Paddy Power has two markets for the Tag Team Championship tournament. Firstly punters can back a winner in the semi-final match between The Usos and Hype Bros. After injuring American Alpha and setting up this second chance to the final, The Usos are rightly favourites for this at 2/5 while The Hype Bros are 9/5.

There is also a market for outright odds for who will win the tournament itself. The Usos are again favourites at 4/5, while their semi-final opponents, The Hype Bros, remain outsiders at 15/2. Heath Slater may be aiming for a Smackdown contract and a double wide trailer for his family, but he and Rhyno remain middle of the pack in the betting at 5/4.

Smackdown has done surprisingly well building a solid women division, despite the absence of big stars like Charlotte, Bayley and Sasha Banks. There is now real interest going into Sunday's six pack challenge regarding who well walk out with the belt.

Nikki Bella is currently the 4/7 favourite after becoming a proven commodity as champion in the past. However Smackdown's top female draft pick, Becky Lynch, will undoubtedly have the crowds backing and her odds of 21/10 may be worth a punt.

The rest of the pack sees Natalya at 6/1, Alexa Bliss at 14/1 and Carmella and Naomi both at 22/1.

Back in August, Dolph Ziggler was challenging for the WWE Championship but he has now been relegated to a mid-card feud with The Miz over the Intercontinental title. It doesn't look like it will be getting any better for Ziggler though, as he is a long shot at 16/5 to walk away as champion, while The Miz remains heavy favourite at 1/5.

Randy Orton will be looking for a much better outing on Sunday than he had against Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. The Viper goes up against Bray Wyatt at Backlash andwill be keen to avoid back to back PPV losses since his return.

Wyatt on the other hand has been treated as only an afterthought since the brand split and it would be a surprise to see him go over a top star like Orton. Orton is clear favourite at 2/5, while Wyatt can be found at odds of 7/4.

Styles has been on fire since debuting at the Royal Rumble in January, and now looks set to take the championship off a waning Dean Ambrose. Not too long ago, AJ Styles as WWE champion would have seemed like just a pipe dream, but 2016 has proven you can never say never in wrestling.

His fantastic work with Roman Reigns and huge win over John Cena at Summerslam showed the faith the company has in him. A championship reign would be not only well earned, but fully deserved for the Phenomenal One. Style is 2/5 to have his hand raised while Ambrose is 9/5 to keep his title.
