Francis Ngannou has pretty much secured a UFC title shot after destroying ex-heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos in just 71 seconds at UFC Minneapolis.

'The scariest finisher in MMA' added yet another violent knockout to his impressive record following his stunning victory over Dos Santos.

He landed a vicious right-hook flush on Dos Santos' chin before raining down brutal ground and pound as referee Herb Dean stopped the main-event content after one minute and 11 seconds of the very first round.

"I was just telling him that I need some credit. I need the title shot," the Cameroon-born fighter said when relaying what he said to UFC president Dana White at the post-fight press conference.

"That's the only thing that would make sense right now for me. He [White] said we're going to talk about it. I assume that means yes.

"Do I deserve the title shot or not? I think the answer is yes," Ngannou added. "Then what happens or somebody gets an injury? I don't know, I just want that they give me the title contract and then we have time to prepare and put it all together.

"I feel very good. I am very happy now and then I hope the UFC is going to realize that I deserve the title shot right now. I deserve the winner of DC [Daniel Cormier] and Stipe [Miocic].

"Junior moves a lot, so the goal was to throw him off and strike," he said about Dos Santos' game. "Of course, it gives me some confidence but before that I was already confident because Junior is a striker and a boxer, but I believe I am the best boxer in UFC."

The 32-year-old is 3-1 since his title defeat to Stipe Miocic back at UFC 220 in January 2018.

He's on a three-fight win streak which includes scalps over former UFC champions Cain Velasquez and Dos Santos.
