Premier League giants have held talks about signing Jack Grealish in stunning transfer

Premier League giants have held talks about signing Jack Grealish in stunning transfer

Grealish has been linked with a move away from City.

One of Manchester City's Premier League rivals have reportedly held talks about making a stunning transfer swoop for Jack Grealish.

Jack Grealish became the most expensive signing in Premier League history when he joined City in a £100 million move from Aston Villa in 2021.

The England star took time to settle in Pep Guardiola's side during his first season at the club, but in his second campaign he improved massively and played a key role in City's historic treble win.

This season Grealish has taken a step backwards, and has been far less effective on the left flank.

While the 28-year-old is arguably Guardiola's go-to man in terms of ball retention and holding width to stretch defences apart, his offensive output has dropped to just three goals and three assists in 35 appearances this season.

Grealish has previously admitted that he needs to improve his numbers in the final third, but he has been unable to do so this term.

While the attacker still has three years remaining of the six-year deal he penned at City, he is being linked with a remarkable move to Chelsea.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea could make a big money move despite already spending over £1bn on players since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took over the club in 2022.

On his Substack page he wrote: "Another winger I am told has been internally discussed at Chelsea recently, is Manchester City’s Jack Grealish.

"The 28-year-old has been linked with a return to his former club Aston Villa in recent weeks, and due to his bit-part role at City, there is a belief in the industry that he will be available for transfer this summer and also, he is likely to be open to moving to another club where he will have a more important role at.

"Chelsea have good transfer relations with City and of course, have signed Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer from them in recent years, both at reasonable fees."

City sold Sterling to Chelsea for £45m in 2022, before recouping £40m for academy product Palmer last summer.
